Ninja Turtles

Unlike many of my age, I grew up with the Ninja Turtles. I watched the 2003 universe growing up, and recently started rewatching it. I started thinking, what if the Turtles used true battlefield weapons? The ninjato didn't exist, sais and nunchaku were more civilian tools, and the bo staff isn't the most effective at dispatching enemies. I decided to give Leo a Daisho pair, with a transforming katana that either turned into a nodachi or nagamaki, Mikey a kusarigama, Raph a kanabo, and Don a yari and "Arisaka" Type 38 rifle. Raph and Mikey keep their iconic weapons for backup, while Leo and Don store theirs away. Splinter gets a modified staff that hides a sword and a venomous tanto knife. It may sound stupid, but I think this would be a nice idea for an Adult Swim version of the turtles. The original comics were much darker than the cartoons most people remember them for, and a change in weaponry would help, since the Turtles would actually use their weapons offensively. The irony is that the 2003 series also took more to the comics, with Laird helping in production. I would love to see a TMNT series even more similar to the comics in tone and action, with actual gore, blood, and proper use of weaponry.
